I went to a writer’s conference in Cannon Beach last weekend. (February 2007) The workshop was great, and I learned so much. The speaker, Susan Wiggs, http://susanwiggscom/ told us we all needed to have domain names and blogs. There’s not much point taking a workshop if you don’t follow through. I ordered the books Susan recommended and followed her advice. A new blog is born and my domain name is KathyMcCullough.com. I wanted Kath’s Kreations, for all my jewelry and kards, but it was taken. Oh well.
I’ve written and published stories, but now that I’m retired, I decided to devote more time to writing. The conference/workshop was exactly what I needed to get started again!
I read somewhere that if you hadn’t published by the time you were thirty five, it was too late. I was pregnant with my son in 1990, I was thirty five, and didn’t have much time left! Bedridden from a near miscarriage, I was staying at my mother-in-law’s house, recovering and lying on the couch reading her supermarket tabloids. Woman’s World was her favorite, and after reading a stack of them, I decided I could write like that. They paid me $500 for my true story and published it under a pseudo name. Now I could relax. I was a paid and published author.
A few years ago, Cricket Magazine published an interview with me, as well as a story I wrote called “I Am The Ghost”. Its about a little girl four wheeling in the canyon behind her house who goes back in time and… you’ll have to read it to see what happens.
